Rubens

Characteristics and appearance
Rubens® is an apple with a happy red blush, with characteristic dark stripes and a yellowy ground colour. The form of Rubens® is conical and exudes power. It is of noble birth: its father is Elstar, its mother Gala. Rubens® gets its crisp, fresh aroma from its dad, while the pleasant sweet taste comes from its mom’s side of the family.

It’s simply second nature for Rubens® to retain its full flavour and crunchy, juicy texture for so much longer in the fruit bowl. This of course is a real advantage, because it means that Rubens® always remains the tastiest on-the-go snack with a tangy bite!

Origin and cultivation regions
Rubens® is the result of the great Italian talent. In 1988 the CIV breeders from Ferrara, in Italy crossbred a Gala with an Elstar. The result: Rubens. Its name comes from the Latin term “rubens” which means “red”. “Rubens” reminds of course the name of the Flemish painter.

Rubens®, the new apple with the attractive bright red blush, owes its deliciously sweet and flavour to a careful selection of the very best orchards. The Rubens orchards are situated in Südtirol, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Northern Germany, Denmark and starting from next season it will be possible to taste the Rubens® apples coming from Kent hills.
These orchards are tended with a lot of care. The growers make every effort to ensure that you can enjoy a delicious Rubens® time and again, from the very first bite to the last!
