The WI cooks up a storm with Bramley

Finalists in the Norman Collett and Tesco WI apple recipe competition presented their dishes to judges today.

Finalists in the Norman Collett and Tesco WI apple recipe competition presented their dishes to judges today.

Judges Shaun Doherty and Susan Turner from Tesco, Nick Green from LloydsTSB and Nigel Stewart from Norman Collett Ltd reported that the competition was very close with only a few marks seperating all 6 finalists.

Winner, Marion Cox from St Mary's will see her recipe for apple cake on Bramley packaging this Autumn.

The competition is part on ongoing work between Norman Collett Ltd and Tesco aimed at reviewing the methods employed for promoting Bramley and looking for new markets for this traditional apple.  An ethinc focus will form part of the work with the development of product links and recipes from other cultures that currently do not use culinary apples.

If you have a good, non-traditional, Bramley recipe, please send it to Sarah.Calcutt@normancollett.com
