Mid Kent Growers

Rubens

Norman Collett Ltd, a leading supplier of English fruit to UK  multiples, has been awarded exclusive rights to market this new premium apple variety in the UK by brand owner C.I.V. (Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti).  The supply of this fruit is mainly from Mid Kent Growers ltd (www.midkentgrowers.co.uk) who have been poineers in the development of this new variety and have planted 47.3ha of trees since 2007, 12.7ha are grown by 2 additional growers, affiliated to Norman Collett.

The first new apple variety to be introduced to the UK since 2000, Rubens® will be available in stores from the end of October.  The new variety has a medium sweet taste and a unique crunchy texture that causes the flesh to ‘fracture’ so chunks come away easily when bitten into. The flavour is a classic apple tang with a hint of melon.
